The Claddagh ring was created by master goldsmith Richard Joyce, after enslavement took him from his beloved Claddagh. The emblem of love & friendship, two hands cradling a crowned heart, was a reminder to exiles of Ireland. Wear the ring on the right hand, crown turned inward and the world will see the heart as unoccupied. Worn on the right hand with the crown turned outward, it is clear that a love is being considered. When worn on the left hand, with the crown outward, two loves have become inseparable. The legacy the small fishing village of Claddagh lives on.
